Investigation on Film Formation Characteristics of Pressure-Swirl Nozzle

The film formation during the spray/wall impingement has attracted more attention. present study investigated characteristics of pressure-swirl nozzle by applying contact-free optical method. According to experimental results, distance had a slightly significant effect on actual spray angle than mass flow rate, and maximum changing value was 34.6°. bulge at center surface became insignificant with distance. liquid divided into raised zone, annular free zone. time-average thickness central position 2.84 mm, correlations for predicting roughness were fitted. zone 0.38–0.59 relatively thinner other zones. When lower 10 in decreased first then increased However, effects rates negligible when higher mm. findings are helpful fundamentally understand impingement.
